About this example
This pie chart describes an illustrative collection of 100 samples. Clinic A contributes 42, Clinic B 31, Clinic C 19, and other sources 8. Because the total is exactly 100, the percentages are 42.0%, 31.0%, 19.0%, and 8.0%.
The number on each slice matches a numbered category in the legend, providing a reference beyond color. Switch to a donut if that presentation suits the figure; it preserves all four source proportions.
Use this layout when each sample belongs to one source category. Avoid counting the same sample in two slices. For a denominator that produces rounded percentage totals, inspect the research-sites example.
